Basket weaving in Rwanda is passed down from generation to generation, from grandmother to mother to daughter. These delicate and graceful traditional Agaseke peace baskets are woven using native grasses, reeds, and sisal fibers, and come in sets of five. 

The pattern symbolizes friends meeting and talking on a path before going on their way. After Rwanda's 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, the making of peace baskets was encouraged both for their symbolism and as an activity helping to bring divided communities together.
