The Kigali Genocide Memorial is the final resting-place for over 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi. It is also a driver in Rwanda’s extraordinary journey towards healing and reconciliation.
Built into Rwanda’s national schools curriculum, life-saving peace education developed at the Memorial now inspires educators internationally.
The Kigali Genocide Memorial was created through a collaboration between the Government of Rwanda and the Aegis Trust in 2004, and Aegis continues to manage the Memorial on behalf of the Rwandan National Commission for the Fight Against Genocide (CNLG). Through peace education in Rwanda and beyond, Aegis enables people to give up revenge, lay down weapons, and champion humanity.
